stressed 214x300 The customer is always right?

This guy hasn't learned yet that customers are usually right...

Have you ever written something, and then stood back from it later, thinking ‘I am amazing’? It doesn’t happen very often, but just sometimes the words flow out of the pen and something miraculous happens. Usually after a couple of glasses of wine.

The thing is, nearly every time I’ve done that, my customer has turned around and said they wanted it changing. It’s tough to deconstruct a lovely piece of writing, knowing that you would have preferred to leave it as is was, but it comes down to the old adage ‘the customer is always right’.

holidays 300x199 Addiction support and counselling? We’re going on holiday. My laptop is going to be left in the capable hands of a house-sitter, while we disappear for a week. I should be excited, right? Going abroad with books and music to somewhere warm is enough to put a smile on anyone’s face.

The problem is, I am panicking about leaving my work behind. My laptop and I are permanent companions. We spend all our time together, and we are very good friends. No matter that the left mouse click button is loose and jumps off sometimes when I type too enthusiastically. No matter that it overheats and shuts down towards the end of a long piece of writing, and refuses to recover it for me.

usofa 300x214 On speaking different languagesI am now officially Bilingual. I have a new linguistic skill that can go on my CV, opening doorways to new business ventures.

I launched the latest Stilus adventure last week, providing blog writing services for SMEs. It has started to take off, which is truly fantastic. The only hurdle to achieving customer satisfaction was that I had to learn to write in a new language for two of my new customers…

…American.

What’s all that about? Color? HUH? I have been realizing that communicating in this way adds new…color…to my writing. I have to go back and delete all the ‘U’s and ‘S’s from my words, replacing them with ‘Z’s. Hmm.

Now I get it!

Posted by: Jennifer Syrkiewicz | Comments (1)

I’ve just had a major breakthrough with blogging. If you post comments to other blogs, people come and visit your site. I had no idea! It’s like a big online party where everyone is invited.

I could get seriously addicted to this whole blogging business. I’m busy implementing things like Social bookmarking capabilities and Amazon affiliates. I feel as if I could jump in to my site now and have a wander around, picking things up, looking at them, and moving them around.

Thank you to Andrew from We build your blog for sorting everything out for me! I wonder if anyone has been so involved in their blog that they forgot to go outside?

Facebook is evil

Posted by: jensyrk | Comments (0)

I was having a drunken conversation with a friend last night, who let me know in no uncertain terms that he thought Facebook was evil and should be destroyed. I stuck up for the application, because I think it’s a great way of being able to remain friends with all those people whom you would never bother to pick up the phone for to actually speak to them. Instead, you can give them a ‘poke’ and that’s your friendship sustained for another six months.
