‘Gardening in the Dark’ finally available for purchase!
ByIf you a regular reader of the Stilus blog, you’ll have travelled with me for the past year, through the ups and downs of getting my novel accepted for publication, and being released.
I have news! The novel is now out, and if you go to Amazon you can purchase it from the site. I’m absolutely over the moon with the cover, the quality and the whole process. I’d like to thank Chipmunka publishing for all their support and help over the past year, and for making this amazing moment possible.
It’s been a long journey from the moment when I first sat down to write, to this moment. I thought I’d take a few minutes to write about how I feel about the book, and the fact that it now available for purchase in real paperback format!
Over the past few weeks, people keep calling me to comment about Gardening. Some people tell me it is well-written. Some people tell me that the beginning is too sad and it upsets them. Even though I tell people that the novel has a happy ending, at least one person has told me in no uncertain terms that they refuse to read any further than the first three chapters.
To my mind, knowing the ending, I think this is a shame. I also think it’s a shame that people could be put off a book because it starts out a little sad. As a relentlessly positive person, I feel a bit cheated that people could start my book and not trust me to write a happy ending.
I like books that make me cry, and then make me laugh. I like to feel a full spectrum of emotions when I read. I think when I wrote Gardening I was trying to achieve the same effect.
Anyway. Take it from me, there is a nice clean and comfortable conclusion to my little story. Please don’t be afraid, if you read it, to finish it all, and have faith that I never intended to make anyone feel sad (at least, not for a long period of time!).
I hope you like the book. I hope you think it is well written and makes you think. I hope Gardening does my publishers proud.
If you do like it, and you felt like writing a review on Amazon, I’d be a very happy bunny indeed.
Thanks guys, and thank you for all your support with the book. If you would like to buy it, it’s living here: http://amzn.to/ajtQIp.
