When the sun comes out…

…it gets easier to leave the laptop and step outside!

It's spring!

It’s been a hectic week so far. I’ve been writing copy for a new website, updating blogs and writing articles. It’s tough that I have so much to do when the weather is simply glorious, because in an ideal world I’d drop everything and head outside to the greenhouse, potting things and getting set for summer.

One of the things on my mind at the moment is just how difficult it is to keep track of passwords. The more blogs I update, the more passwords I have. I tried having a document to hand with everything written down, but obviously this negates the point of having any security at all.

How a flaky person keeps track of their admin

When I have a technical issue these days, I get in touch with the eternally-helpful Andrew from We Build Your Blog. He must be completely sick of it by now, as I get technical issues a LOT.

He’s incredibly patient. I asked him what he would do if he lost a password, and he explained to me that sensible people don’t let that happen. He recommended a piece of software called Roboform, which you download for free on your PC and it remembers all your login information for every site which you access.

How good is that! Free is great. The idea for the software is great.

I downloaded it. Life will never be the same again. I can surf at top speeds without pausing every few minutes to go back in to e-mails and look up passcodes and login details.

This has freed me up to pot some plants. I now have a vegetable patch for the first time, with cabbages and cauliflower started off. I’ve grown some corn, sprouts, carrots, potatoes, rhubarb and beetroot from seed.

Thanks Andrew for the tip. If you are getting swamped with login details, maybe Roboform can help you.

When I got my first ever internet banking account with First Direct, as a student, I taped my login details and password to my PC. I’m glad that, finally, I’m learning some common sense. Imagine the happy burglar that broke in to a seedy student house looking for the piggy bank, and came across my lovely machine, with an added free gift of a bank account, ready to strip? Admittedly there was nothing in it, but someone who could break in to a student house in the first place would probably be glad of anything they could get!

The outside is coming in!

As I sit here in the living room typing away, there’s a small brown bird sitting on the window-ledge outside, tapping the window with his beak. He does it every morning now. I think he is telling me he wants some food. Either that, or he’s completely insane. I’d better go and see what I can rustle up, before he puts the glass through…
