Bringing positive thoughts to Mind
ByI spent an evening with a group of people from the York and District division of Mind this week. As a volunteer (running the Bipolar Support group), it was good to join volunteers and service users from other groups.
The amount of courage, positivity and support in the room was unbelievable. I spent time chatting to people who had overcome the most incredible adversity, relying on this charity to provide valuable support and advice in their darkest times. The people I met were funny, resourceful and fascinating, having each found coping strategies for their individual mental health issues.
Mind really needs as much exposure and support as it can get. We are always looking for ways to raise the profile of the charity and raise money.
If you’re buying Christmas cards this year, would you consider getting them from the Mind central office? They have fantastic designs, and you can get that lovely smug feeling which comes from doing something brilliant. This may help to alleviate the guilt you feel after tucking in to your fourth mince pie. Just a thought…
