You have to be good at getting others to say ‘yes’.
These ‘yeses’ could be big (please invest £millions in X). They could be small (please do Task Y). But, the better you are at triggering them, the quicker you’ll succeed.
3 Powerful Steps to Pervasive Positive Thought
By · CommentsThe following article is a guest post from Bejamin Langley. Benjamin has been studying meditation, self hypnosis, energy work, and personal development for over 15 years. Right now he is offering a free video which explains how you can use a simple meditation technique to reduce your stress by 90% or more in 1 minute or less. You can get it at http://peacefulprosperity.com/
It has been said about a billion times.
It has been a staple of personal development since there has been such a thing as personal development.
Is time managing you, or are you managing your time?
By · CommentsLet’s face it, time is pretty much the only thing which we can’t buy. Like the best jams, time is only ever home-made. I’ve been struggling for time recently, as work seems to be like buses and it all comes in at once. I find myself running from project to project, wondering how it’s all going to come together.
And yet, it always does. I’ll start out at the beginning of the week wondering how it can be possible that one single person can undertake so much work, and then slowly it seems to get ticked off until the weekend arrives and I can breathe out (a bit).

How to make your audience happy…ask what they need
“Give me some Rules of Thumb with communication … rules that I can follow. Without thinking.” So said one of my clients recently. I asked what areas he was most interested in.
“Well, when I am making a formal presentation, should I use PowerPoint or not?”
‘Gardening in the Dark’ finally available for purchase!
By · CommentsIf you a regular reader of the Stilus blog, you’ll have travelled with me for the past year, through the ups and downs of getting my novel accepted for publication, and being released.
I have news! The novel is now out, and if you go to Amazon you can purchase it from the site. I’m absolutely over the moon with the cover, the quality and the whole process. I’d like to thank Chipmunka publishing for all their support and help over the past year, and for making this amazing moment possible.
Why ‘job’ is a dirty word
By · CommentsHave you heard that old expression, ‘never put off until tomorrow, what you can do today’? Smug and annoying as it may be, it is still a wise tenet for modern times. While I would prefer to imagine that the phrase relates to eating chocolate (it could go off if I leave it too long) or seeing friends (nicer than work), I fear it does actually refer to work.
On cutting the crap as a small business owner
By · CommentsSmall business owners are generally harried, fractious and tired. I know this, because as a small business owner, I’m harried, fractious and tired. The problem is, anyone running a business has to focus on three things simultaneously. The past (who have you done work for? Are there invoices outstanding? Have you forgotten anything?) The present (what projects have you got going on? Can you do it all? Have you mailed everyone you meant to get in touch with?) and The Future (how do I develop my business and get further clients? More money? More time? More exposure? A winning lottery ticket and a château in Southern France?
